Teknikio

STEM Education Projects

During my time working at Teknikio (October 2019- April 2020), I was in charge of developing STEM education projects with an emphasis on circuitry and Internet of Things. Here are some of the projects that I worked on. Using Teknikio’s programmable circuit board products and easily accessible craft materials, I created these playful projects with a goal of teaching young children about the basics of programming and computational thinking. Here are some examples.

Weather Station

This is a weather station that shows the chance of rain and the temperature. Turning the magnifier rotates the Bluebird board inside, whose orientation can be programmed to determine how and which information to display. For example, program the rate at which the blue light blinks to show how likely it will rain. Detailed Instruction Here.

This project was built using Bluebird, a programmable circuit board that sends and receives information over Bluetooth and the Internet. Program Bluebird through an iPad or Mac with Tekniverse App.

Valentine’s Rose

Make this quick and easy rose for Valentine’s Day with a temperature sensor and a LED light. Learn about each element of the circuitry and how triggering the temperature sensor (by blowing a kiss at it) completes the circuit!

IoT Street Light

Every time a vehicle is sensed, the first light along the street turns on, then the second receives the signal sent by the first light and turns on. Each light is programmed to be triggered by the previous one, and to send signal to the next one. This way we can save energy and only have the lights on when they are needed!

This project was built using Bluebird, a programmable circuit board that sends and receives information over Bluetooth and the Internet. Program Bluebird through an iPad or Mac with Tekniverse App.

holiday advent calendar

Make this fun holiday countdown calendar while learn about simple circuitry. The conductive at the bottom of the sled works as a movable piece that completes each one of the three circuits as you move it along the track.

Visual Assets

I also designed visual elements for the brand including project tutorials, illustrations, and Instagram posts. During the development of web and iOS applications for our programmable circuit board, I also helped design some of the tutorial interfaces.
